Kandbari-A Flowerworks Display
63A Beautiful Red Geranium
Introduction
This is the second in a series on a holiday at Kandbari in the North Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
This Hub consists of pictures of flowers from the area around Kandbari. The credit for identifying them goes to Sally's Trove.
A Beautiful Pair- the Rose of Sharon
Lavender Beauty
This flower's name may have Biblical origins. The Song of Solomon has a verse which is quoted in Wikipedia " I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys (Solomon 2:1)".
They sometimes have double blooms as above.
Deep Red Cosmos
Native to the meadows of Mexico, the Cosmos flower has travelled a long way to find another home at Kandbari.
Spanish priests at their mission gardens named them "Cosmos" after their well-arranged petals. Cosmos is from the Greek word that means harmony or ordered universe
Brugmansia, Yellow Datura or Angel's Trumpet
This beautiful yellow flower is the Brugmansia, related to the Yellow Datura and is also aptly known as the Angel's Trumpet. It was growing in the lovely garden of an obviously well-to-do person at a height of 1500 metres (5000 feet) at Dharamshala in the Dhauladhar mountains.
Unfortunately, Wikipedia advises that " All parts of Brugmansia plants contain dangerous levels of poison and may be fatal if ingested by humans or animals, including livestock and pets".
Bunch of Colourful Dahlia
Cheerful White Cosmos Flowers Waving in the Wind
The Cosmos is easy to grow and is a fun flower as it attracts Monarch butterflies and sometimes even birds.
Dew-bedecked Dahlia
Wild Mushrooms

Hi sabu----Beautiful photographs of beautiful subjects. I have grown cosmos in the garden here in England they are very impressive with their variety of colour. Here we call a Hypericum the "Rose of Sharon" . Enjoyed this visit very much. Thank you.
wow beautiful! You took these pics- they're gorgeous. I have always had a love of flowers. I especially love dahlias- were you saying those are poisonous or the flowers above? Dahlias are my favorite because of the colors and varieties they come in.
I am looking forward to the annual Tulip Festival we have in a nearby town. Fields and fields of tulips.
THanks for sharing these flowers with us.
I'm not sure I've seen an Angel's Trumpet in real life, but you took a beautiful picture.
I planted a flower garden with my daughter last year when she was 2 yrs old. I planted only non-poisonous edible flowers for her safety, but it was fun learning about all the edible plants and flowers and getting creative.
