My Unwritten Hubs

Unlike others who are prolific writers, the best I can claim to be is a prolific title writer.  I churn out possible subjects to be written about at mind-boggling speed. Unfortunately, I am also remarkably slow at producing complete pieces. My modus operandi is very simple. I mull over an idea and produce a title. Then I write a bit and like a cow chewing cud, I mull some more. This process can take a year or longer before some flash of inspiration (or more effectively a kick on my backside), forces me to write and put a punto final to it.

At this time, I have some twenty unwritten pieces. The good thing is I am a Jack of you know what, so there is a lot of variety in the things I haven’t yet written about.

Here are some of the ones I think will make interesting reading.

This Hub is about how our lives today are controlled by four devices—the mobile phone, the laptop,  the automobile and the TV. I could be virtually (and physically), anywhere in the world—on a beach in Goa or a mountaintop in the Himalayas—and no one would be any the wiser. Until someone notices the suntan, that is.  

If you were given the choice to select the two most important things to manage in life, what would they be? Your family? Your relationships? Your work? That is the question this Hub tries to answer.

One dear relative and a close friend fell to this dreaded disease. This Hub, when complete, will contain a lot of information on Alzheimer’s and will help Hubbers to take steps to prevent it.

I read somewhere that coffee requires much more water for cultivation than tea before that cup reaches your lips. The history of both beverages is fascinating going back as it does to the 9^th century for coffee and earlier as far as tea is concerned. And who can forget the importance of the Boston Tea Party?

There is no right or wrong in the business world. What should organizations do strategically? Stay with the knitting or follow a policy of diversify or die? To diversify or not to diversify, that is the question. 

Some of the most colourful and riotous festivals in the world are held in India where they play a major role in strengthening family bonds. Festivals like Raksha Bandhan (the Bond of Protection) highlight the bond between brother and sister. Holi must rank among the most colourful in the world and Diwali among the noisiest.

In a long career span, an employee can expect to have all kinds of bosses. This Hub looks at some bosses with whom I crossed paths and sometimes crossed swords. 

Most of the great treatises on sex have come from the East, the Kamasutra from India and Taoism from China. The Big O is treated quite differently depending on which side of the world one comes from.

What would a world without glass have been like? What if you couldn’t see yourself, unless you happened to live near a placid blue lake?  A look at the world of glass and mirrors.

Every generation thinks it is the with-it gen. But for people like me who grew up in the ‘60s and ‘70s with Elvis and the Beatles and flower power, the music of that time was something else. This Hub will examine how music reflects society’s changing moods. 

Well, isn’t that what every sane person would do? After all, pubic hair design evokes more comment than learned treatises on climate change. Or does it?

This was to be a series on a holiday in the hills of North India. Perhaps I should have said serie because it stopped at one.  

Well, there you have it. My Top Unfinished, Unwritten Hubs. I haven’t a clue whether I am unique in my ability to not deliver the coup de grace to my Hubs. Perhaps I should consider submitting my brain to science for study.

And if you are going to a temple or a church, say a little prayer for me, fellow Hubber as I sally forth once again to add more titles with ease and struggle to complete the unfinished ones.
